lol, for fun, off course, and gamers points, and new mini pets that give to Anet Best Fans Ever, so they said on their website. as a token of appreciation and more games and celebrations quests/missions. or maybe a special emote.

Well, I definitely prefer to see AN hunting for ursan, improving heroes' AI or working on a new content (which is a new campaign), rather then having a new minipet/emote/event implemented...

that would be other part of Anet's job, this is something else, i thought of it because they put in on their front page 5,000,000 Best Fans Ever, obviously, Anet is very happy, so to mark the happy occasion, a celebration for Anet and its Best Fans Ever.

I won't hold my breath on it if I were you. Not to mention the fact that this whole "zomg we sold 5 million units" thing smells more like a marketing crap than anything else.
Oops, sorry for pointing that out.

You need to have your nose checked then, NCSoft is a publically held company with a listing on the stock exchange meaning they cannot say they have sold 5 million when they havent, its simply illegal to do so.
Sorry for pointing your ignorance out.

5,000,000 Best Fans Ever. How many of those accounts are getting used for Botting, Ingame Advertising, Exploiting Glitches...
I see no need for a celebration really, and as posted above, I'd rather see ANet working on fixing bugs instead of conjuring up yet another minipet.

Dunno, I guess this part would seem to indicate you dont believe the numbers:

I wont dispute your own assertions regarding your capabilities but if you're not 'BLIND', what exactly do you think you see?

I see an "advertisement" to a game on www.guildwars.com website, what else?
Are you trying to tell me that Anet and NCSoft (or Blizzard or whatever) make an announcement saying "We sold/have 5,000,000 game units/active subscribers" AND a big banner with 5,000,000 in gold color as a "THANK YOU" for their customers?
Seriously?
If I sell something in my store and I sold it for 1,000,000 units and I want to "thank" my customers, I'm SURE AS HELL won't do it by making an announcement about it in local newspaper OR placing a big banner over my store; I'd give my customers free stuff OR give them some discounts OR give them a "thank you" card. Tell me you don't find that reasonable.
Now, I'm not saying Anet have to do anything. I'm just trying to point out to the OP that the whole thing happened with marketing in mind, not to "thank" us.
Clear enough? Seriously just quit the BFB club so we can talk (or otherwise) some sense into you.

I think they should do something to thank us. Something that's good and beneficial to me. Idc about anyone else. Something like 500 lockpics for all my dedication.

Yup, it's with marketing in mind. So are the tournaments, so are the little things like festivals. They may be fun, and they may be nifty, and the developers may even LIKE putting them on, but end of, if people aren't playing. having fun, telling their friends, and people aren't buying, then no one makes money and bye bye jobs.
Not arguing with you here. Just agreeing with you publically.

I'm not blind either, and I really don't see Cacheelma saying he/she doesn't believe Anet's statement that they sold 5 mil. accounts. He's merely saying Anet's statement is made to attract more buyers, and not to reward the customers. In other words: Anet wants publicity (marketing crap), not a "thank you party".
I thought Cacheelma was pretty clear, and although misunderstandings can always happen, it's not a reason to start insulting people for being ignorant, just because YOU read their post wrong.

Seriously? Yes.
I mean, normally, when you see "best fans ever" there is an obvious hint that they are thankful. If it wasn't because of us they wouldn't have made 5 million, and they've been announcing this for every millionth, so what's the big deal? I mean gosh, them marketing a new campaign or expansion has more of an effect than announcing that they're popular, because those ones are targeted at existing players, which would be a larger audience than those who haven't played before.
If you're really unsurprised that they would pull something like this because you think it's all just a big scam, then I guess you would have thought that them advertising EotN back then was also a marketing scam - it made people happy as well as sales, didn't it? I don't see any one-sidedness about that.

Christ. Stop bashing on Cacheelma already!
He/she's NOT disagreeing at all, but simply stating Anet is doing marketing, and even though they might be thankfull, they probably will not create an event to celebrate it. The OP was suggesting such an event would be a nice way for Anet to really thank the players, and Cacheelma explained why that's not gonna happen. And I agree that Anet might be thankfull, but this is all just publicity. Can't blame Anet either.
